Puddin' Head

CHILD’S SILK VELVET PUDDING
French, 18th c.
Prior to the second half of the eighteenth century, children of the affluent classes
appeared as miniature versions of their parents, in equally rich and restrictive
garments. One of the few practical concessions made to children’s needs in terms of
clothing was the pudding, a padded headdress that protected the child from potential
injury in the event of a fall.

Okay--I've gone back to the beginning of your blog because I can't get enough. There's an entirely too exciting story going on here and I want to explore it all. You are so delightful and I appreciate you sharing your journey. BTW--I had to do the research on the pudding cap. Really interesting. Just a little off center bit of information. That's why I like your blog so much. Just a little off center--my style.
